Reaching Spa-Like Look for Your Bathroom

In the past, if you wanted to update the look of your bath or powder room you grabbed some new bath mats and called it done. Today it is far more common to install all sorts of upgrades like hand held or extra shower heads, heated towel bars and teak bathroom furniture. The more spa-like you can make a bathroom look and feel, the more positive impact it has on the value of your home. Even if you are not planning on selling your home any time soon, the bathrooms are the most frequently used rooms in any house and they might as well be as attractive and functional as possible.

Textiles offer a fast and easy way to transform the look of even the most mundane of bathrooms – a new shower curtain can refresh a room in minutes. New bath rugs and mats with anti-skid backing are always a good idea and as a matter of course, window treatments and shower curtains should generally be replaced every year or so anyway. Replacing your bath towels and washcloths is another quick way to introduce a new look; add a touch of elegance by getting monogrammed towels.

Some affordable and easy upgrades include little things like replacing the drawer pulls and cabinet hardware with more modern versions, replacing and/or adding more towel bars, towel hooks, towel rings and robe hooks, adding shelving or a storage tower and adding bath furniture such as a shower bench or hamper with a seat top.

Towel warmers, also known as heated towel racks, are available in counter-top versions along with free-standing floor units, both of which require no installation. You can also find wall-mount towel warmers which are easy to install.
