Modern bathrooms tend to be light and airy – the bathroom lighting fixtures are an important part of what makes any bathroom look stylish and attractive. No matter the size or shape of your bathroom, there are many things you can do to create a more attractive and usable space, even if the porcelain fixtures are a bit dated.
Don’t hesitate to start!
Begin by setting aside some time to clear out and clean the room – you’d be amazed at how much stuff you no longer need or use. Donate what you don’t want to homeless shelters (they appreciate toiletries and grooming aids); set aside any worn towels or bath mats for donation to a local animal shelter and offer any window treatments, shower curtains or unwanted bath accessories to charity or a local thrift shop.

Once you have cleared out the excess stuff you can give the room a thorough cleaning, preferably during daylight hours so you can see what you are doing. Be sure to clean the light fixtures and replace any burned out or missing light bulbs. This is a good opportunity to switch to energy efficient LED or CFL bulbs if you have not already done so. Sometimes you will find that a clean fixture with fresh light bulbs can really brighten up a dated bathroom; it may not be necessary to replace the fixture at all.
Another way to make a small bathroom look larger is with new bathroom and vanity mirrors; mirrors reflect light and can help to open up a room plus specific mirrors such as magnifying mirrors and fogless shower mirrors can be helpful for better grooming and personal hygiene.
