Gracious Bath & Powder Rooms

Decorating the bath or powder room can be a great opportunity to create a relaxing oasis where you can truly get away from it all – a place to powder your nose or soak and relax in a long, hot bath. Even if the vanities are a bit dated or the porcelain fixtures are not the most modern, it is still easy to transform the look and functionality of almost any bath or powder room with just a little bit of imagination; a new set of bath or guest towels is just the first step.

Powder Rooms

Begin by taking a good look at what you have to work with and clean the room from top to bottom. Be sure to clean the light fixtures, removing and replacing any burned out bulbs with new ones at the proper wattage; also clean the exhaust fan, windows and mirrors. The room should sparkle when you are done – liberal use of glass cleaner is one great way to get chrome hardware to shine and porcelain to sparkle.

If the bath hardware is broken or dated it’s easy to update – take a look at the hardware section of your favorite bed, bath or home décor store online where you will find hundreds of choices. New drawer pulls or cabinet handles can extend the life of a functional but dated looking vanity; they are easily installed in minutes.

Textiles are the easiest way to update the look of a bath or powder room – a new set of window curtains or hand towels can make a big difference in the look and feel of the room. Consider monogrammed towels for use in a guest bathroom or powder room – it adds a touch of class and is certain to make a memorable impression.
