If you are a beginner, a do-it-yourself project should be something you can complete in just a couple of hours and should require very few tools. Consider sprucing up the bathroom with new shower curtain rings, installing new bathroom faucets or replacing the caulking around the bathtub and sink.

If you want the look of shower curtain hooks or rings, but not the cost, consider using spray paint to coat plain, plastic rings. The painted shower curtain rings give your bathroom a sleek, modern look. Bathroom sink faucets are usually secured by just two bolts, one underneath each of the handles. It is connected to the water supply as well. When you undertake replacing the faucet on your own, pay careful attention to how the old faucet was attached, and use that information to guide you in attaching the new one. Caulking can become discolored in areas where there is moisture. It can also dry out and peel back. To replace the caulking, use a razor blade to scrape away the old caulk and a caulk gun to place the new caulk. Pay attention to the color of the shower, tub and sink, and select a caulking color that most closely matches the fixtures. For a more polished finish, get your finger damp with water to make the surface of the caulk smooth and even.
